Happy New Year

This post has been on my mind for a few days (weeks?) now and feel pretty lame about that fact that I am only posting it now.  First, I want to say Happy New Year!

I love the beginning of a new year. I am always filled with a renewed passion for various things in my life, both professionally and personally. I have a running list in my head of all of the new things I want either try or finish in that year. Some get written down – after all they’re more likely to happen if they get written down – but some just sort of float around in my head as I’m drifting off to sleep or just day dreaming. I make a lot of resolutions but refuse to actually call them resolutions because I know I won’t stick with most of them. Instead I just say I have a bunch of “goals” for the year. My “goals” cover a wide range too. Almost no corner of my life or house is safe from me wanting to make it better! My husband often hears the phrase “One of my goals for next year is…” He’s very good about not not breaking my spirit.  He just smiles, nods and says “Good!” to every last crazy idea I have. I love him for that.

I am definitely the type of person who likes to look forward and not dwell on the past. It’s just not my thing. I don’t like the “woulda coulda shoulda” that it brings with it. However, this past year was a different one.  I’d say 2013 was one of my best and one of the hardest in all my (almost) 30 years.

So this year, I am going to pause and look back. The hard part came from an overly busy schedule and trying to figure out time management as a new working mom.  The best part is that I became a mom and it’s so much better than I ever expected it to be!  This girl has stolen our hearts!

I’ve learned a lot this past year and I’m not the same person I was the year before. Which makes me ready to take on 2014 and the lessons I hope to learn and the person I hope to become.

I’m also beyond excited for all of the plans Katie and I have made for Nice & Knit 2014. There will be many creative experiences coming your way. Our family, friends and of course you, our readers, are the best. Happy New Year!

  1. She has stolen mine also! Little honey that she is! Yes, Kara you have a ton of goals and more ideas than I could ever dream up, but I am so glad that you do. For some reason I am used to that ;-) I do look forward to the projects that I have heard of!

  2. So fun to see all the cute pictures of your family! Looking forward to what you have up your sleeve for Nice & Knit. Your blog is my favorite & it’s always fun to try your new patterns. Happy New Year to you too!

  3. Happy New Year! Adorable photos! These first months go so fast.
A huge list of goals and ideas is no bad thing. It just shows an avid imagination!
I find that if I at least write them down they stop buzzing around in my head so much.
