Making a List and Checking It Twice

I took a few minutes to write down all the Christmas gifts I wanted to make this year.  It totaled to be:

10 hats
5 pair of fingerless Mitts
2 pair of leg warmers
1 cowl
1 Throw

Yeah, it’s Nov. 5th and I don’t think 1/2 of that will be happening. So, it’s time to check the list twice and find some alternatives. Some of the patterns I am considering are:

1 Camp Out Fingerless Mitts
2 Temperate
3 Welted Fingerless Gloves
4 Lucky
5 Gradient
6 Owl Ways Hat
7 Greystone

Did You Know?
Stitches East is this weekend at the Hartford, CT Convention center. I plan to stock up on the yarn I’ll need (and some yarn I don’t need, but will buy anyway).  Can’t wait!

  1. I know how you feel, I have four pairs of socks, a scarf, and a purse that are due by Christmas for gifts…I am pulling my hair out. I have a friend who has made two of those Owl hats, super cute. I love the other patterns you picked too. Must. Not. Add. To. My. List…

  2. I have two pairs of socks, a scarf, a cowl, a shawl, and two dwarf hats with beards for my little brothers. I still have hope, faint though it may be :P

  3. It looks like you’ll be busy then. You have spurred me on to start my list too – I think there will be more than last year. One friend has 5 children – I knitted them all a scarf/a cowl or a hat! I thought that was enough !

  4. That list is crazypants!!
My list, on the other hand, which is of similar length, is totally doable and reasonable.
Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt, y’all. It’s the Christmas Knitter’s Curse.

  5. Sooooo, as your sister, I’m hoping the fingerless mitts are coming this way. Greedy, yes. But due to my lack of skill level, I found out that I’m rather horrendous when it comes to mittens. :) Does that work as a good enough excuse?

  6. I completely understand!! I’m in the process of trying to figure out what I’ll have time to make this year (that was my plan-to make all my gifts) and what I’ll actually just have to suck it up and go buy.
